From the
President
This issue is the last in
which I will have the opportunity to
speak to Torch members as president, as
I will have resigned this office as of
August 31, 2017. Our Executive
Secretary has also resigned. I wish the
new management company and the new
president the best as they and IATC move
forward.
This past
summer my home club, Kalamazoo Torch
Club, hosted the 2017 Torch
Convention. The gathering brought
together members and their families from
around the country and Canada to
celebrate the past, present and future
of Torch. Feedback from attendees
was complimentary and hopeful for next
year in San Antonio. Not only did
the attendees have a wonderful
experience, but the convention also
ended in the black—always a good sign.
Our 100th
anniversary is coming up in the not too
distant future. We hope each of
you is committed to expanding your club
to reach a more robust membership.
We expect to move as close to 5000
members as possible. We reached
that number back in the 1940s. We
have fallen to below 2500 today, but I
think a return to more members can be
made.
Again, I wish
all of you a wonderful future as I
return to my home club and continue my
membership of thirty-seven years.
